Neuroscience

Neuroscience studies the structure, function, development, evolution, and pathology of the nervous system, and is an interdisciplinary field connecting biology, psychology, medicine, and computational science. Major branches include molecular and cellular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, and clinical neuroscience. Core questions cover neural signal transduction, synaptic plasticity, neural circuits, perception and behavior, learning and memory, and the neural basis of consciousness. The field is closely related to artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
