The Division of Nephrology at Columbia University is internationally leading in Precision Nephrology, glomerular diseases, and renal molecular genetics. Faculty publish in top journals including Nature, Science, Cell, and JCI.

The Department of Nephrology at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University is one of the founding institutions of blood purification technology in China, a key discipline of the Ministry of Education, and the host institution of the Shanghai Institute of Nephrology and Dialysis and the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Kidney Disease and Blood Purification. It is an important base for kidney disease medical care, research, education, and talent training in China.

The BWH/MGH Joint Nephrology Program is based at two major Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals and is one of the most influential nephrology training programs globally. BWH performed the world's first successful kidney transplant (1954, Nobel Prize) and pioneered the Kolff-Brigham artificial kidney enabling long-term dialysis.

The Department of Nephrology at Peking University First Hospital was founded in the 1950s by Professor Wang Shuxian, a founder of nephrology in China, and was the first nephrology specialty in the country. Under the leadership of Professor Wang Haiyan and subsequent generations, it has developed into an internationally renowned nephrology specialty, ranking first in nephrology in the Fudan China Hospital Specialty Rankings for 14 consecutive years and first in the China Hospital Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) for nephrology for 10 consecutive years.

The Department of Nephrology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital was founded by Professor Bi Zengqi in 1979 and is one of the earliest nephrology departments in China. It has extensive experience in treating refractory nephrotic syndrome, IgA nephropathy, lupus nephritis, and ANCA-associated vasculitis, serving as an important center for difficult and severe kidney disease diagnosis and treatment in China.

The Department of Nephrology at Ruijin Hospital is a Ministry of Health key clinical specialty, Ministry of Education key discipline, and Shanghai key discipline. It is an internationally influential nephrology training base and national clinical pharmacology base, and one of the first institutions authorized to grant doctoral and master degrees in nephrology with a postdoctoral mobile station.

The Division of Nephrology at Stanford University is committed to world-class patient care for kidney disease, hypertension, and related conditions, conducting cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical research, and training the next generation of nephrologists. Research ranges from bench to bedside, with collaborations from Silicon Valley startups to public health teams in Sri Lanka.

The Department of Nephrology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was founded in 1963. It is a national key discipline, national key clinical specialty, one of the founding institutions of Chinese nephrology, and the founding institution of the Chinese Journal of Nephrology. It is a renowned kidney disease diagnosis, treatment, and research center domestically and internationally.

The UCSF Division of Nephrology has trained leaders in academic nephrology, superb clinical and basic research scientists, and outstanding clinical nephrologists for over 50 years, with a longstanding international reputation for excellence in research.

The Section of Nephrology at Yale School of Medicine has extensive programs in patient care, research, and education, committed to excellence in becoming national and international leaders in academic nephrology. It hosts two NIH-funded kidney disease research centers of excellence, leading internationally in polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and acute kidney injury.
