学术历史

The China Academy of Art, formerly the National Academy of Art, was founded in Hangzhou in 1928 by Cai Yuanpei as China's first comprehensive national higher art institution. The Chinese painting department was established at the school's founding, with Pan Tianshou serving as its first department chair and proposing the pedagogical philosophy of separate Chinese and Western painting tracks. Landscape painting teaching has been profoundly influenced by masters such as Huang Binhong, Lu Yanshao, and Gu Kunbo, forming a teaching system rooted in the Jiangnan landscape tradition that emphasizes brushwork cultivation and comprehensive training in poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. It is a scholarly stronghold of the southern school of Chinese landscape painting.
