学术历史
The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts was established in 1953 and is the only higher art institution in southern China. The Lingnan School, advocated by Gao Jianfu, Gao Qifeng, and Chen Shuren in the early 20th century through the 'New Chinese Painting' movement, promoted reconciling Chinese and Western art and reflecting reality, profoundly shaping the academy's Chinese painting pedagogy. Lingnan School masters such as Guan Shanyue and Li Xiongcai taught at the academy, bringing the school's emphasis on sketching from nature and integrating Western color theory and perspective into the teaching system, forming a landscape painting tradition that combines traditional brushwork with contemporary spirit.

The School of Chinese Painting comprises studios in landscape painting, figure painting, and bird-and-flower painting. Undergraduate teaching emphasizes the integration of copying, sketching from nature, and creative work, with courses covering traditional landscape techniques, landscape sketching, and creative research. Xu Qinsong
Professor
Professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a renowned landscape painter.
